The Print Shop Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the print shop within the Phoenix Elementary School District. This role involves managing all printing tasks, ensuring high-quality output, maintaining equipment, and coordinating print jobs to meet the district's needs. This role is also responsible for mail at the District Office and stocking the teacher supply room. The Print Shop Manager will work closely with various departments to fulfill their printing requirements efficiently and effectively.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Manage and oversee the daily operations of the print shop, ensuring timely and accurate completion of print jobs and excellent customer service.
• Operate and maintain a variety of printing equipment including digital printers, copiers, and binding machines.
• Coordinate with external customers and district staff to understand their printing needs and provide appropriate solutions.
• Schedule and prioritize print jobs to ensure deadlines are met.
• Perform quality control checks on all print jobs to ensure they meet district standards.
• Maintain inventory of printing supplies and order new materials as needed.
• Troubleshoot and perform minor repairs on printing equipment, coordinate with service technicians for major repairs.
• Develop and implement processes to improve print shop efficiency and output quality.
• Prepares all budgets, reports, and other documents required of the supervisor in order to sustain the successful operation of the Print Shop.
• Maintain records of print job and charges, supplies used, and equipment maintenance.
• Ensure compliance with all district policies and safety regulations.
• Performs other duties as assigned that support the overall objective of the position.


MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
• High School diploma or GED
• 3 years of experience in a print shop or printing environment.
• Experience with various printing technologies and software.


PREFERRED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
• Associate degree or higher preferred.

Knowledge and Skills:
• Proficiency with printing equipment and related software (including desktop publishing).
• Strong time management skills and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Customer service oriented with a collaborative approach to work.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Knowledge of safety standards and procedures in a print shop environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures and government regulations.
• Proficiency in creating reports and business correspondence.
• Effective communication with staff, customers, and vendors.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail

 

Ability to:
• Carry out all responsibilities of the position.
• Plan, organize, and supervise work programs that optimize the use of staff.
• Establish collaborative work relationships with departments, outside contractors, and the public.
• Operate vehicles, equipment, and tools used in maintenance and operations and instruct others.
• Organize and sequence project steps to accomplish efficiency with use of labor and materials.
• Prepare time and material estimates, interpret building codes, read, interpret, and translate blueprints and schematics.
• Operate: production level printers and copiers, binding and laminating machines, offset printing press, padding press, platemaker, shrink wrap machine, collator, stapling machine, folding machine, paper cutter, and saddle stitcher.
