JOB SUMMARY:

Schedules work for network technicians including troubleshooting, network maintenance, hardware/software installation, software updates, and work requests.  Assigns division of work between network technicians and performs limited network technician duties.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Additional duties may be assigned.

  • Effectively utilizes district technologies appropriate to the position and assumes responsibility for attending district training needed to successfully perform designated responsibilities as directed by supervisor.
  • Configure, troubleshoot, and repair PC/Desktop hardware and software
  • Provide daily desktop support to all schools
  • Installation of workstations
  • Performs related duties as required
  • Assists with the design, documentation, and implementation of new networks and modifications to existing networks.
  • Assists network administrator with server, router and switch maintenance as needed.
  • Responds to Track-It’s in a timely and effective manner.
  • Acts as technical consultant to network technicians.
  • Assists with the design, documentation, and implementation of new networks and modifications to existing networks.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • AA Degree or Equivalent technical certificates required.
  • HIgh school diploma or GED required.
  • One year Cisco Router and Switch experience
  • Working knowledge of network administration experience required.
  • Two years of Windows 2000/2003 Server experience.
  • Altiris imaging and creating RIPS experience.
  • Two years of school district experience desirable.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience with Windows XP and Microsoft applications.
  • Five years experience with Windows NT, 98 and 95 machines.
  • 4 - 5 years experience working with computer hardware.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Ability to write reports business correspondence, etc.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from administrators, staff and the general public.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

 

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to interface effectively with other departments, school personnel, other maintenance staff, and business contacts from outside of the District.

 

REASONING ABILITY:

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule from.

 

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to accurately perform assigned tasks.
  • Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and School Board Policies.
  • Ability to promote harmonious working relationships with staff and outside business representatives.
  • Possesses excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal relationship skills.

This position is a grade 13 on the support staff non-exempt salary schedule. Placement is between $18.32 and $20.13, depending on experience.
